Of all the strange things that Alice saw in her journey Through The Looking-Glass, this was the one that she always remembered most clearly.
The memorable occurence referenced above is the king’s ballad, which Alice heard just before running to the Eight Square.
If you’ve ever played chess, you’ll know that’s where pawns go to become queens.
It’s a great huge game of chess that’s being played——all over the world——if this is the world at all, you know. Oh, what fun it is! How I wish I was one of them! I wouldn’t mind being a Pawn, if only I might join— though of course I should like to be a Queen, best.’
As this is my first post, I am happy to welcome you to my new blog. We all experience the world through varying types of glasses; lenses, windows, mirrors, screens and yes, even wine glasses.
